LAGE, a score from 0 to 100, sums up an address as a place to live: quiet, clean air, public transport, green space and errands on foot. Natural hazards such as floods lower it. We work it out for every address in Linz with the same rules, from open data. For each place, the tables give the median, the score of the address in the middle once all of them are lined up. The neighbourhoods Lagecheck compares are statistical areas of Statistik Austria, each named after a street inside it, and we rank the 144 with at least 60 addresses. The map of Linz shows every neighbourhood.

Air is the lowest part in each of the first ten, with medians from 37 to 56 against 46 for the city. In the Niedermayrweg area green space shares that lowest figure, 56. The Planckstraße area has the lowest air score of the ten, 37, with 89 for green space, 91 for errands and 90 for public transport. Which neighbourhoods of Linz have the lowest LAGE score?
The Lunzerstraße area has the lowest median of the 144, 20 across 572 addresses. Most of its addresses lie in land zoned for industry, and its streets carry names such as Stahlstraße, Kokereistraße and Sinterstraße. Its parts are 20 for quiet, 10 for green space and 8 for errands on foot, with 50 for public transport and 51 for air. The figure describes an industrial area.
Above it come the Mönchgrabenstraße area with 39 and the Kalkgruberweg area with 41. Two areas share 42, the Pachmayrstraße area and the Rudolfstraße / Kaarstraße area. These neighbourhoods reach a low score from opposite ends. The Kalkgruberweg area has 95 for quiet and 98 for green space, with 8 for errands and 50 for public transport. The Rudolfstraße / Kaarstraße area has 100 for public transport and 97 for errands, with 17 for quiet and 20 for air. The Kremsmünsterer Straße area, with a LAGE of 44, has 95 for quiet and 0 for errands.
LAGE combines the five parts as a geometric mean, so one low part weighs more than in a plain average. A quiet and green street far from the shops ends up below a street where every part reaches the middle. One weak part pulls the whole score down.

Can I weight the parts myself?
The profile page lets you set your own priorities for the five parts. The standard LAGE weights them equally. If a quiet bedroom window matters more to you than the tram stop, give quiet more weight, and the map of Linz colours every neighbourhood by your own LAGE. The neighbourhood finder ranks the neighbourhoods by the same priorities, and the method page gives the rule for each part.
How we counted
The address register of the BEV gives every address, and each address counts once, however many flats it has. Road noise comes from the strategic noise maps 2022 of the federal ministry BMLUK, which cover every street in Linz, and flood areas come from the same ministry. The air comes from the model of the European Environment Agency, public transport from the ÖV-Güteklassen 2025 of the ÖROK, and parks, shops, doctors and schools from OpenStreetMap. Noise and air are model values, and distances are as the crow flies. The data is as of 12 October 2026.
The rankings cover the 144 neighbourhoods with at least 60 addresses. Rents, prices and safety stay out of LAGE. The score describes the location.
