In the 30-year and the 100-year area, the maps expect a flood on average once in 30 or once in 100 years. The 300-year area adds the rare, extreme floods. The neighbourhoods Lagecheck compares are statistical areas of Statistik Austria, each named after a street inside it, and the ranking includes those with at least 60 addresses. These statistical areas differ from Salzburg's own districts (Stadtteile), such as Lehen, Maxglan and Liefering.

Which neighbourhoods join the ten highest with the 300-year area?

Two neighbourhoods join the ten with the highest share once the 300-year area counts. The Johannes-Filzer-Straße area has 0 addresses in a 30- or 100-year flood area. With the 300-year area included, 89.9 % of its addresses lie in a flood area, 89 of 99, and it ranks third. The Zillertalstraße area reaches 82.7 % with the 300-year area and stays outside the ten neighbourhoods with the highest share for the 30- and 100-year areas. In their place, the Kreuzbergpromenade and the Maxglaner Hauptstraße / Wehrgasse areas leave the ten.

Other neighbourhoods stay among the ten and rise. In the Siebenstädterstraße area, the share rises from 50.7 % to 76.1 %, and in the Fasaneriestraße area from 44.6 % to 68.5 %. There, most of the flood addresses already lie in the 30- or 100-year area.

How do I find the flood area of one address?

On the map of Salzburg, you enter an address, and its report names the flood area it lies in and the hazard zones around it. The method explains how a flood area lowers LAGE, and the profile of Salzburg sets the flood figures beside road noise, public transport and parks. On the page your priorities, you weight the parts of LAGE yourself.

How we counted

The flood areas come from the flood risk zones of the federal ministry BMLUK under the EU Floods Directive, as of 2026. The address register of the BEV gives every address, and each address counts once, however many flats it has. An address counts in a flood area when its point lies inside it. The maps show where rivers and streams spread in a flood of each size. Heavy rain running over the surface and rising groundwater are separate hazards that these maps leave out. The rankings include neighbourhoods with at least 60 addresses.

Every figure in this story comes from the same open data as the maps and address pages of Lagecheck, counted per address from the address register. The data stands as of 12 October 2026.
