Living in Neubau, Vienna's 7th district, in figures

Neubau, Vienna's 7th district, has a median LAGE of 50, our score from 0 to 100 for a place to live, against 65 for Vienna, and this median is the lowest of the 23 districts. Road noise reaches 65 dB or more at 63.5 % of its 1,733 addresses, the largest share of the 23 districts, against 23.6 % for Vienna. Every address has public transport class A or B and a supermarket and a doctor within 500 m.

For each address in Neubau, Vienna's 7th district, we look up the road noise at the loudest facade, the air, the stops nearby, the nearest park and the shops, doctors and schools within walking distance. LAGE, a score from 0 to 100, sums these up in five parts, quiet, air, transit, green and errands, and flood areas lower it. We then set each figure of the district against the whole of Vienna and rank it among the 23 districts. The neighbourhoods are statistical areas of Statistik Austria, each named after a street inside it, and the neighbourhood table keeps the ones with at least 30 addresses.

1,733 addresses. 33 neighbourhoods with at least 30 addresses. Rank 23 of 23 districts for LAGE.

What is it like to live in Neubau?

The middle address in Neubau, Vienna's 7th district, has a LAGE of 50, the lowest median of the 23 districts, against 65 for Vienna. The five parts of its LAGE show two strengths and two weaknesses. The district's part medians are 100 for transit and 100 for errands, 44 for green, 32 for quiet and 20 for air. LAGE is a geometric mean of the five parts, so the two weak parts pull the score down further than in a plain average. The story on the best districts of Vienna to live in ranks all 23 districts by LAGE. The table gives every measure of the district against the city, with its rank among the 23 districts.

In the rank column, 1 stands for the highest figure. For loud addresses (65 dB or more), nitrogen dioxide, fine dust, flood areas and the distance to a park, the highest figure is the weaker end, so 1st for loud addresses means the largest share of all districts. Neubau shares 1st place for public transport, a supermarket and a doctor within 500 m with other districts, and it holds 1st place alone for a primary school within 500 m.

How does Neubau score with your own priorities?

The standard LAGE weighs its five parts equally. If transit and errands matter more to you than the quiet, set your own priorities, and the map of Vienna colours every neighbourhood by your own LAGE. The story on living in Vienna gives the same figures for the whole city.

How we counted

The address register of the BEV gives every address, and each address counts once, however many flats it has. Road noise comes from the strategic noise maps 2022 of the federal ministry BMLUK, as Lden at the loudest facade, and flood areas from the flood risk zones of the BMLUK. The air figures come from the models of the European Environment Agency, public transport from the ÖROK classes 2025, and parks and shops from OpenStreetMap and the city's directories. The residents come from the population series of the City of Vienna, MA 23, for 2008 to 2025. The data is from 12 October 2026.

The district figures count every address in Neubau, and the neighbourhood table keeps the 33 neighbourhoods with at least 30 addresses. The method explains each part of LAGE.

Every figure in this story comes from the same open data as the maps and address pages of Lagecheck, counted per address from the address register. The data stands as of 12 October 2026.
